The open meeting was held to discuss the possibility of changing the curriculum of AP U.S. History in Jefferson County high schools. As members of the school board look on, those in attendance raise their hands in support of the speakers, as they were instructed not to clap. (This photo won a Society of Professional Journalists 2015 Mark of Excellence award for General News Photography as well as a 2015 Honorable Mention for General News Photography from the Associated Collegiate Press.)
